Alien Skin Exposure 6

Alien Skin Exposure 6

Alien Skin Software has just released Alien Skin Exposure 6, integrating the features of stand alone product “Bokeh” into the already powerful film emulation and “look” software add-on. I’ve used Exposure myself a number of years now as I have not found a better way to execute quick film emulations. I’m not necessarily looking  for something new. In fact, often what I am after is a quick way to correct a digital image back to what I am used to seeing in my former color slide film work. Kodachrome baby. Nothing like good old Kodak Kodachrome, now as extinct as the dinosaurs in the actual film versions. All we are left with today are existing examples, many of which are seriously fading or the color degrading after sixty years in storage. Chemicals do oxidize, even long lasting chemicals and azo dyes like those Kodak used to manufacture their various types of color film. So with the real thing gone, we can now turn to software “emulations of emulsions.” I’d be lost without it!

In this quick tutorial video, Alien Skin’s video tutorial chief, Jimmy Beach, quickly covers what is new in Exposure 6. If you are excited to see an overview of the new features in this version, this is the video for you. Or, if you are living on the planet Pluto, and are not familiar with Alien Skin Software or any of their great products, this video should serve as a great introduction to what quality photo plugins are all about. Alien Skin makes some of the most useful for my type of work and subject matter.

Another often useful feature found in Alien Skin Exposure is their fabricated backgrounds. Like the color adjustments, the backgrounds are also taken from real film samples, carefully analyzed for accuracy, and then reproduced with exacting precision.  Not a feature I use often, but when I do I find these to be excellent reproductions of what the originals looked like. Bravo guys.  Alien Skin Exposure 6 does an excellent job of bringing to the new the best of the old.
