The Evolution of Editing Software

The Evolution of Editing Software

Which I choose?
Why do I choose?
Who wants that I choose?
I am not their beauty product, their precious.

They cannot change me.

Editing software has come a long way since the early days.  Even Final Cut Pro X is finally becoming a decent editing suite.  But still, as this glimpse into a future different shows, the presently marketed editing software still has a long ways to go before it becomes both user friendly and powerful at the same time.  This excellent animation effort by the Hungarian Production and VFX Team shows the way for anyone interested in building out this UI; a project I would happily undertake myself given proper financial backing as I think an R&D success could be attained.  In other words, my money is down betting this UI can be built, and built now with present day technology.  It is too good an idea to simply die, a development project worthy of seeing the light of day.

This is how I want my editing software to work.  How about you?  Care to join a shared vision on editing software?  Post your comments below and let’s explore what this shared vision should look like.  You never know, what today it is only a visual discussion can tomorrow become a visual software editing platform reality.  My prediction?  In the evolution of editing software three years tops, and we will all be using editing software with this type of user interface.  What’s more, the power behind the UI will be even more than this editing software demonstration shows.  There are some very interesting editing software products in the pipeline….

Someone please pass me that virtual hair creation brush?

Nouveau Parfum
