Iridient Developer 3.0 Beta 3 Released

Iridient Developer 3.0 Beta 3 Released

Our friend Brian Griffith advises us today that Iridient Developer 3.0 beta 3 is now available for download:
http://www.iridientdigital.com/products/iridientdeveloper_download_v3beta.html

“This is a pre-release version of Iridient Developer 3. it may be unstable or lack features that will be be included in the final release. Some functionality may change before the final 3.0 release. This beta version has not been tested as thoroughly as a final release of the software. It may contain errors and may not function as well as the final version. Please be sure to back up any important images or previously saved Iridient Developer settings before testing this version.”

“There are a few things (like documentation) that have not been finalized in this release. There is a Read Me included in the disk image download that details what’s new and what’s not finished yet.”

“This major update features multiple all new RAW processing (demosaic) methods for both Bayer and X-Trans based cameras. This release includes 4 (3 for X-Trans) new color RAW processing methods plus 3 monochrome specific RAW processing methods in addition to the previous 2 RAW processing methods included in prior versions. Other major new features include a Vibrance adjustment (similar to Saturation, but protects skin tones and other colors from oversaturation), neighborhood adaptive Hightlights/Shadows adjustments, a Fill Light adjustment (similar to Exposure but uses adaptive tone mappping to hold maximum highlight levels and more easily expands the tonal range) and two new Toning methods (mono tone and split tone).”

“In addition to the new features the core processing pipeline has been refined and improved in a number of ways to maximize RAW dynamic range and more easily (automatically) take advantage of some existing capabilities like Highlight Recovery. Adjustments that have been improved include Brightness Shadows/Midtones/Highlights, Contrast (now features two adaptive S curve methods in addition to prior linear adjustment) and Saturation. Many of the improvements to the core processing pipeline apply to standard (TIFF, JPEG, etc) images as well as RAW.”

“Some of the Settings window control panes have also be reorganized to better group commonly used controls together and make some functionality more obvious. I’m afraid the more extensive user interface overhaul that originally was planned for version 3.0 has been postponed to a post 3.0 release… this 3.0 version is already running several months behind schedule and it is difficult to significantly rework the user interface in small chunks, its basically all or nothing, and it’s a substantial bit of work.”

“This release is now being built with the very latest Apple developer tools on the final release of Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10) and should address all user interface issues on Yosemite due to the changes made to the system font and control sizes introduced in this version of Mac OS X.”

This release adds support for 19 of the latest RAW camera models including:

Nikon: D750
