Tissue? I Don’t KNOW You!

Tissue? I Don’t KNOW You!

I know the opening “Tissue” line is an old West Virginia play on words, but it is an accurate description of this story.  This is one of the best time lapse animations I have seen put together,  a monumental execution task for a masterpiece outcome.  It goes to show that once in a rare awhile, even the stodgy old  Advertising Agency creatives get to cut loose the juices on a soul feeding project, vs. their steady diet of soul stealing ones.  “Tissue Animals” is the recently completed time lapse tissue animation by Dentsu for Japanese client Nepia.  Who knew that tissue could be so creative?

Wonder how they crafted all of the tissue scenes?   So did I!  Here is a behind the scenes look at this fascinating tissue loving process:

Nepia is a Japanese tissue manufacturer, who claims to work on controlling sustainable forests, conserving their ecosystems, and advancing employment practices.  Their corporate tag line says it all: “Great tissue comes from great trees. We thank our forests.”

In this project, a piece of tissue transforms to a tree, to a bird, to a frog and so on using stop motion animation. That is a “tissue craft art” I’ve never seen before.  Nepia goes on to say “Tissue we use everyday is made from trees cut down in forests. We don’t want to forget gratitude to forests because we can give thanks to them. We hope that lively forests and animals will continue to exist forever.”  What a lovely thought, and more than worthy goal.  Can we change that title to “Tissue, I want to know you?”
